Questions you may have before your first visit.

What to expect at my fist visit?

A standard initial Physiotherapy consultation involves a comprehensive assessment of your presenting condition, including any relevant past medical history. We will take a detailed objective assessment of your posture and how you move, including assessing relevant joints and muscles.

Taking a patient centred approach to your care, your therapist will work with you to identify your goals of rehabilitation and formulate a treatment plan to get you ‘back where to want to be’.

Due to the detail required in the initial assessment most consultations will take approximately 45 minutes. Follow up consultations are usually 30 minutes.

What about Women’s Health or Pre/Postnatal visits?

Women’s Health or pre/postnatal Physiotherapy consultations require additional assessment. Often an internal pelvic examination may be recommended. This is not compulsory, however it is the best way for our therapist to assess your condition. An initial consult will take approximately 60 minutes, with follow up consults between 30-45 minutes.

Do I need a referral?

You do not need a referral to attend Physiotherapy, however bringing any relevant medical information you have to your appointment is beneficial (such as ultrasound, x-ray, and post op reports).

Can I claim for my appointment?

You will need to check with your private health insurer if Physiotherapy is covered in your plan. We use Tyro HealthPoint Claiming with integrated EFTPOS so please bring along your private health card to your appointment so you can claim any private health rebates on the spot.

Clients on Medicare ‘Team Care Arrangements’ with an ‘Extended Care Plan’ will need to have a care plan filled out and processed with your GP prior to attending the appointment. Please note that Medicare does not cover the full amount of the consultation. Clients will be required to pay the full fee of the appointment at the time of consultation, and then your Medicare rebate will be processed for you to receive any benefit into your nominated bank account.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

At Motion Physiotherapy we know that sometimes life does not always go to plan! We try to be as flexible as we can with our cancellation policy, however please understand that specific time is set aside for your appointment. If you are unable to attend we ask that you let us know within 24 hours to avoid a cancellation fee.

I have tried contacting the clinic but am unable to speak to anyone?

Please note that I do not have a receptionist. If you are unable to reach me leave a message and I will endeavour to return your call within 24 hours.
